The Warm Wind Up Here

Description

The name comes from the fact that this is in effect a 'warm up piece'. I wanted to practice my current techniques and try a few new ones (such as method used to draw mane/tail) before re-doing a kiriban prize... Wouldn't want to mess it up due to lack of practice! :O

I've actually had the two stocks saved for a while, I was going to make a unicorn/colours of the wind inspired character, but I decided golden brown/autumn overtones would suit the image much better than many colours. I also intend (if I get the thumbs up and a-okay nod from the stock providers) for this to be a free-use image. In other words you can use it for NON-PROFIT use, such as a horse picture on a SIM game as long as the credits remain on the image (Or spys shall find you and I will appear to you with a crazed look and, well, it won't be pretty!).

I both love and hate this piece. I think perhaps the reason I dislike it is because the strong wind I wanted portrayed, was too strong on the horses mane and not strong enough on the thick grass/shrub, whereas the results from the new mane/tail method aren't my favorite and lastly I was lazy with the shadow, which just looks awful. Ahem. But I love the horse focus/details (yes I bothered with chin hair, belly hair and forelock hair... Go me!), the understated markings and the job I did at flipping the background focus (check original stock, to see just how much focus flipping I did with the background!)

Slowly, slowly I am improving though...
